Krung Thai Develops Financial Services to Boost EEC Investment and Drive Sustainable Economic Growth
Krung Thai collaborates with "EEC Policy Office" to enhance comprehensive financial services that meet the needs of all investor groups in the EEC area, covering liquidity management and upgrading public services with electronic systems to facilitate businesses. The aim is to drive investment in the EEC area to meet targets and propel sustainable economic growth.
Mr. Payong Srivanich, President of Krung Thai Bank, revealed that as a state commercial bank, Krung Thai is ready to develop comprehensive financial technology and innovations to support all types of entrepreneurs in the EEC area, including both Thai and foreign investors, large businesses, and SMEs. This initiative aims to drive investment in the EEC area in the next phase from 2023 to 2026, with a value of 2.2 trillion baht, in accordance with the planned objectives, which will contribute to the country's GDP growth potential of 4.5-5% per year, as set by the government. Recently, the bank signed a memorandum of understanding to promote investment and financial services for the development of the Eastern Special Development Zone with the EEC Policy Office, represented by Secretary-General Mr. Kanit Sangsuphan.
The bank offers a variety of financial services for entrepreneurs in the EEC area, including special interest rate loans for sSME customers, such as the Krungthai sSME EEC 4.0 loan, which provides a maximum loan amount of three times the collateral, or for loans not exceeding 1 million baht, which can be obtained without collateral. The Krungthai sSME Smart Shop loan offers a maximum amount of 20 million baht with a repayment incentive, while the rehabilitation loan has a special interest rate for the first two years not exceeding 2% per year, with a maximum repayment period of 10 years. For SMEs, there is the SME Long-term Love loan with an interest rate starting at 4% per year, repayable over up to 10 years, and the SME Robotics and Automation loan, which enhances business efficiency with automation technology, providing up to 80% of the investment amount, with a maximum repayment period of 7 years. Additionally, there are loans for civil servants and state enterprise employees in the EEC area, as well as financial services for foreign investors, including Foreign Currency Deposit accounts and Krungthai WARP services.
The bank is advancing the development of the country's financial infrastructure by leveraging technology to enhance the agility of private sector operations, based on the concept of reducing redundancy and integrating data comprehensively. For example, the "Smart Financial and Payment Infrastructure" project establishes the financial and business sector infrastructure using ISO 20022 standards to improve the efficiency of financial transactions, reduce costs, and elevate financial services for both the bank and the business sector. This includes systems that assist with corporate income tax refunds, value-added tax, and withholding tax, allowing entrepreneurs to submit e-Tax invoices and e-Receipts through the bank, ensuring that the Revenue Department has accurate and precise data, leading to faster tax refund considerations.
Furthermore, under the collaboration of the Thai Bankers' Association and the Bank of Thailand, the bank has joined the Digital Supply Chain Finance project to develop the linkage of trade and payment data systems for businesses.
This comprehensive financial and tax service aims to benefit entrepreneurs in obtaining loans, which can help address liquidity issues faced by businesses in the EEC area.
Additionally, the bank places importance on community, social, and environmental development by utilizing technology and innovations to elevate Chachoengsao Province, located in the EEC area, into a "Smart City" to enhance the quality of life for citizens, while establishing infrastructure to promote trade and investment, increase competitiveness, and be environmentally friendly, leading to a sustainable livable city.
